Plant Vessel

Generation of Rotational Profiles

Brian Yang (2014), Industrial Design, Form Study

This project studies the generation of rotationally formed profiles and visually ecosystems. In this project I created a volumetric vessel form that is inspired and informed by the elements that will be contained in the vessel. In this case all the elements are taken from nature; a rock, an air plant, a branch, and sand. The goal is to create a vessel form that visually complements the formal qualities of the natural elements.

The project stared with our found elements that were found out in the world. Formal qualities of the elements where then extracted though sketching to create the final vessel form. The vessel form is not just inspired by the natural elements but is also complementary towards the natural elements. This creates a full formal ecosystem with the vessel unifying all elements.
